Luz and her family improve their living conditions

Mom Luz and her husband have 50 years of living in the community of Playa Oeste. Mom light is dedicated to clean sidewalks and streets. They have a son who died.

In 2017, Irma and Maria hurricanes affected the Dominican Republic. Light for Mom, this meant damage to the roof of his house. With debris from the street, she and her husband were able to cover your home and put some zinc, but it was not enough. The house was filled with water and sediment.

The intervention of Habitat for Humanity Dominican Republic were allowed to access an emergency kit. Thanks to this, placed a tent to temporarily cover the roof, which keeps them dry when it rains. Now, Mama Luz and her husband are with us in the “Path to stay” program to improve their situation after hurricanes.
