About Habitat for Humanity
Driven by the vision that everyone deserves a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots movement in a communal farm in southern Georgia, United States.
Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit organization working in local communities in all 50 states in the US. UU. and in more than 70 countries. The Habitat homeowners are not mere spectators, but participate in solving their housing. Many work with volunteers, use a credit measure or use other methods. Families and individuals in need of a hand are associated with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place to call home where they can.
Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-sufficiency they need to build a better life for themselves. Through housing, we empower people.
