Regional initiative “100 Thousand floors to play on”

Habitat for Humanity Dominican Republic continues to achieve the goals of the regional initiative “100 thousand floors to play on”

Habitat for Humanity Dominican Republic continues to achieve the goals of the regional initiative “100 thousand floors to play on” in collaboration with FICEM and their local partner ADOCEM (Dominican Association of Producers of Portland Cement).

We are thankful for the support of Mr. Ron Terwilliger, Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity International, who has helped to leverage local funds with partners like Reid y Co., Multiquímica, ALPLA, AUTOZAMA, individual donors and others to be able to change dirt floors or in bad state for concrete floors.

A study made by the World Bank and the University of Berkeley, analyzed the data of the health improvement of the families after the change of dirt floors for concrete floors in Mexico. It demonstrated in children a reduction of 70% of parasite infections, 49% in diarrheas and 81% in anemias. Additionally, it favors the cognitive development of around 36% to 96%.

Together we empower with housing.
