Habitat Dominicana and Sur Futuro come together to promote the improvement and construction of homes in the country

The Sur Futuro Foundation and Habitat for Humanity Dominican Republic announced the signing of an agreement aimed at strengthening their housing programs for vulnerable people, especially in Azua, Haina, San Cristóbal and Los Alcarrizos.

This agreement will allow the integration of the physical and technical resources of both institutions with the aim of exploring partnership opportunities to facilitate access to housing microfinance for vulnerable sectors, which will allow for home improvements and repairs, as well as the construction of complete homes.

The president of Sur Futuro, Doña Melba Segura de Grullón, said she felt very proud to continue contributing through Sur Futuro from different programs, this time together with Hábitat Dominicana, with projects that dignify people and the most forgotten areas of our country.

“This new agreement is a sign that we do not stop, that we are concerned about health, education, food, a decent life and now the space where thousands of people live with very limited resources.”

On her side, Cesarina Fabián, director of Habitat for Humanity in the Dominican Republic, said that by allying with Sur Futuro, new opportunities are created to achieve a world where every one deserves a decent place to live and hand in hand with the Dominicans to continue working in favor development and sustainability.

In another sense, the organizations committed to expanding this alliance by exploring joint financing opportunities to develop housing and risk management projects with international and multilateral institutions and the private sector.

The entities will work through a committee that will be in charge of raising the potential areas to benefit and the external collaborators who will finance each of the works that are intended to be carried out through the signing of this agreement.

The agreement was signed in an act with the presence of Melba Segura de Grullón and Cesarina Fabián, complying with strict distancing and prevention measures against COVID 19.
