Dominican Habitat is part of the Tree of Hope of Ágora Mall 2023

For nearly a decade, the Ágora Mall Tree of Hope has worked collectively with various foundations, becoming an important platform that contributes through solidarity to improving the lives of children, adolescents and reinforcing the sustainable development of the communities, families and actors that are part of its support network, through the support it offers to foundations that work in these sectors.

This year the Banco de Alimentos, Hábitat para la Humanidad, Nido para Ángeles and Fundación Pedro Martínez foundations come together with Ágora Mall to obtain the necessary resources that allow them to materialize the objectives that have been proposed and to be able to impact more than 20,800 Dominicans and Dominican women living in vulnerable situations in different areas of the country.

Additionally, through the work carried out by each of these foundations, 7 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) included in the United Nations Agenda 20-30 will be directly impacted in different aspects such as mitigating hunger, health and well-being, reduction of inequalities and quality education.

This year the foundations Banco de Alimentos, Habitat for Humanity, Nido para Ángeles and Fundación Pedro Martínez participate.

The Food Bank Foundation, an organization that since 2010 seeks to mitigate hunger in our country, has a direct impact on objectives No.2 Zero Hunger and No. 12 Protection and Responsible Consumption, since it serves as a benchmark in the use and redistribution of food to the population. Its objective in its participation in the Tree is to raise funds to ensure basic food to meet the nutritional needs of the beneficiaries of more than 200 institutions for orphans, the elderly, and people with disabilities. The flower that identifies it is the Flamboyán.

The Habitat for Humanity Foundation is an international organization that has been working in the country since 1986 to replace earth floors with concrete, as well as to improve and build homes for low-income families. It directly impacts objectives No. 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities, and No. 13 Climate Action. This year their participation in the Tree has the objective of replacing 20 dirt floors with polished concrete floors, impacting at least 20 families in vulnerable conditions, approximately 100 people in both the eastern and southern zones. The flower that identifies it is the Sunflower.

Nido para Ángeles, is an organization that since 2007 contributes to improving the quality of life of children and young people with Cerebral Palsy. They directly affect objectives No. 3 Health and Well-being and No. 10 Reduction of Inequalities. This year their participation in the Tree has the objective of directing the funds to the Solidarity Action program that will benefit 196 families through the implementation of home assistance to strengthen the response capacity of families with sons and daughters with cerebral palsy. The flower that identifies it is that of Bayahíbe.

Finally, the Pedro Martínez Foundation since 2007 is intended to guarantee the well-being of students who present special educational needs and reduce the high dropout rate. They affect objectives No.3 Health and Well-being and No.4. Quality education. This year their participation in the Tree has the objective of impacting 300 boys and girls with special educational needs through the psychological, psychiatric and psycho-pedagogical approach and 200 adolescents in their academic training. The flower that identifies it is the Cayenne.

“This year we return with a version of the Tree of Hope that will directly impact more than 20,000 people in different conditions of vulnerability. Together with these foundations, we reaffirm our commitment to be part of the solution to the problems that afflict those most in need. At the same time working with platforms such as the SDGs that allow strengthening sustainable development and walking together to continue creating fair and inclusive societies for all people”, said Silvia Rosales during the opening ceremony.

Likewise, Rosales pondered that this solidarity activity is dressed in sustainability and Dominicanness, incorporating for the second consecutive year, as a donation instrument: the emblematic flowers of the Dominican flora made by the artisan Patricio Correa, from recycled cardboard product of the mall operation.

The Tree of Hope will be from June 14 to July 16 on the first level of Ágora Mall.
