Dominican Habitat finishes the year 2021 with more than 5,764 housing solutions

Santo Domingo (January 2022) — In the past year where it was dominated by the recovery of the COVID-19 pandemic, a great push to reactivate the local economy, increase of prices of construction materials and interruptions on the supply chains, the resilience was one of the distinctions for the 5.764 housing solutions made by Habitat for Humanity Dominican Republic, as well as volunteers, donors, homeowners, partners and staff.

Despite the big challenges we face today, our national office focused on reaching our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live, by continue to operate our programs and projects to generate an added value to the families with house repair and improvements as a means to reach our mission.

This figure in the DR represents part of the 1.4 million people in Latin-American and the Caribbean that need to have a decent and healthy place to rest, according to the annual report from Habitat for Humanity International.

We want to give a special thanks to the affiliates who have supported our mission. Even more we extend our gratitude to our microfinance partners, individual donors, local governments, corporate partners, community base organizations, non-governmental organization, foundations, international cooperation, volunteers and families who despite of the times said yes to extending a helping hand to the less fortunate and for the will to put God’s love in to action,” said Cesarina Fabián, National Director”.

In this year, Habitat Dominican Republic will continue to work side by side with homeowners to build, rebuild and improve new homes for Dominicans that are low income so they can have a decent and affordable housing in midst of the pandemic. Cheers to all our donors, affiliates and volunteers in this new year and may we continue to build stronger communities, together.
