Habitat for Humanity Dominican Republic wishes to inform community leaders, beneficiary families, and the general public about a recently detected irregular situation in the Montecristi area.
It has been reported that an individual (not identified as part of our organization) is impersonating a Habitat Dominican Republic staff member to solicit cash from families. According to reports, this individual claims that the funds are necessary to cover the costs of transporting materials or to carry out construction and repair work.
In light of this situation, we categorically clarify the following:
- All operational and field staff of Habitat for Humanity Dominican Republic are properly uniformed and identified.
- Habitat for Humanity Dominican Republic will never request cash from families, property owners, or community leaders for the transport of materials or for carrying out construction repairs included in our projects.
- All our management and assistance processes are carried out under strict and transparent institutional protocols that do not involve informal collections by individuals.
We urge everyone to remain vigilant. If anyone approaches you requesting money on behalf of our organization, please refrain from making any payments and report the incident immediately to our official offices or to local authorities by calling 809-547-2091.
Our mission is to build strength, stability, and self-sufficiency through housing, and we will not allow malicious actions to jeopardize the well-being of Dominican families.
