Habitat for Humanity Dominican Republic completed 55,000 housing solutions, benefiting 275,000 people, providing stability to families living in conditions of vulnerability in the country. The event was attended by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, as well as other important national and international personalities.
These 55,000 housing solutions include the construction and repair of homes, improvement of floors, installation and repair of bathrooms, connection of homes to sewage systems, complete homes, as well as capacity building in financial education, among others.
“Our vision is a world where all people have a decent place to live,” said Jonathan Reckford, executive director of Habitat for Humanity International. “Congratulations to Habitat Dominican Republic for doing its part to achieve that vision, and thanks to the thousands of individuals, staff, volunteers, donors and partners whose contributions led to this celebration. As always, we are inspired by the families Habitat works with and remain committed to building homes, communities and hope, both here in the Dominican Republic and around the world.”
“We celebrate every story of transformation behind these numbers. Each solution represents a family that now lives with greater stability, health and hope,” said Cesarina Fabian, national director of Habitat for Humanity Dominican Republic. “This milestone would not be possible without the support of Dominican families, our donors, volunteers, corporate partners, government and community leaders, who have trusted in our work so that every person has the opportunity to have a safe and resilient home.”
With this celebration, Habitat Dominicana reaffirms its commitment to continue building a country with greater empowerment, strength and self-sufficiency, where every family has the opportunity to preserve a better life.
